Illustrations

From a young age Mary had a keen eye for detail, keeping nature diaries and often illustrating what she saw. Her favoured medium was pen and ink illustrations but she also dabbled with watercolours and scraperboard. Mary continued to draw throughout her life and her archive contains huge piles of illustrations which were drawn for books, newsletter articles or just for fun.

The gallery below shows off just a fraction of her drawings, including nature diaries from Mary aged 14 through to illustrations which where made during research trips later in life.
